Costs

In a world where transport is a major part of economic activities and the movement of goods and people, professional driving skills are becoming an indispensable asset. But acquiring this skill isn't affordable. There are a lot of costs to think about, including the cost of training and examination. In the Netherlands getting Code 95 may cost as up to 3000 euros. Fortunately, the expenses associated with the process of acquiring this certificate are much lower in Poland and can be as low as 1500-2000 PLN.

For truck drivers who are licensed to drive trucks, the Code 95 certificate is necessary for trucks weighing more than 7.5 tons in Europe. The certificate has to be added to a driver's licence category C or C+E, and it is valid for five years. The certificate can be added to C1 or C1E licenses, allowing the driver to drive with lighter trailer combinations.

You must take a psychological test and medical exam to be eligible for an Code 95 Certificate. The cost of the course includes a medical exam, PKZ service, payment for the plastic Code 95 certificate, and theoretical lessons.

The cost of the Code 95 Certificate is the same as other types of driving course. Moreover, it is important to remember that the course must be held at an accredited driving school recognized by the CBR. The CBR has strict protocols that trainers must adhere to. For instance when the student is absent from the class, the instructor must notify the CBR immediately.

The trainee must then visit the Road Traffic Safety Directorate and apply for a new license. The deadline for obtaining a new licence is six months from the date of the completion of the course. This is to ensure that a driver has the necessary level of knowledge and competency for driving a heavy-duty vehicle. Additionally, the driver must also be able to read speed limit and kilometer signs posted on the road.

Options for training

Code 95 is a proof on your driving license that you have fulfilled the requirements of training to operate vehicles and trucks professionally. This is a condition you must fulfill every five years to renew your work permit. The regular training is 35 hours of training and can be taken at a driving school or at home (e-learning). It is possible to spread out the course over the five-year period. The courses are often covered by your employer.

There are two kinds of training for Code 95: the long course and the shorter course. The long course is about four weeks, and it concludes with a governmental test. The school where you studied will submit it to database. The card will be processed within 14 days.

The cost of the long course is approximately 2,000 PLN, and the exam is 300 PLN. You'll have to pay an additional fee to the school for them to submit your certificate to the unification European database. After the card is created you can take it to the school.

To be able to offer a course of training that issue Code 95, you must adhere to certain procedures as trainer. First, you must submit a plan of instruction to the CBR. The plan must be approved by the CBR before classes begin. You must also follow other strict procedures throughout the course.

You will receive an acknowledgement from the CBR once you have successfully completed the course. Then, you can forward this to the RDW. After a successful submission you will be able to renew your license with the municipality. If you don't renew your license before the expiry date, you are not able to operate trucks or buses professionally for more than 12 hours a week. If you plan to drive for more than 12 hours a week, you'll have to enroll in a new course.

Exams

You must pass both the theoretical and practical tests in order to obtain the code 95 on your license. These tests can be taken independently or in conjunction with the acquiring of the basic category license at driving school. On successful completion of the test, you will receive a certificate as well with a code 95 card. The card is valid only for 5 years and must be renewed before the expiration date.

Depending on the training programme and the type of training you choose, you can opt for short or long courses to prepare for the code 95 exam. The long course lasts for about four weeks, and it concludes with a governmental test. This test requires you to answer 30 questions on the topics covered in your classes.

You must complete 35 hours of periodic training every five years after passing the code 95 exam. This can be completed in the country where you live or where you work. The training sessions are conducted by an instructor. The CBR provides an online tool to find a teacher. After you have completed the course you will be awarded the certificate from your teacher and the CBR. The CBR will inform the RDW that you have completed your training.

You must also have a digital tachograph in vehicles that weigh more than 3,500kg. The tachograph record the time of driving and breaks, and saves these on a Tachograph. The largest driving licence in Europe is the C-license. In the Netherlands, the requirement is that you pass the initial qualification for professional drivers at the Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing (Centraal Bureau Rijvaardigheidsbewijzen, or CBR, in Dutch). You also must pass an exam for medical conditions.

For passenger vehicles and buses you must also have the driving license, either C or D. Bus drivers must pass a written and oral test. Additionally, they must be able to show a code 85 which is a proof of their professionalism.

Requirements

This is a requirement for truckers wanting to work in the Netherlands. This code on a driver's licence proves that the driver has completed the required training requirements for professional truckers (Certificates of Professional Competence - Verklaring van Vakbekwaamheid). Without it truck drivers aren't permitted to operate professionally for more than 12 hours in a week.

To obtain a driver's license with the code 95, you have to go through professional training courses. These are usually given by driving schools. They also organize the necessary examinations. When you first take an examination, you'll be required to pass a theory and practical test for the relevant category. If you succeed the driving school will issue you a certificate. Then, you must send this certificate to the RDW, together with your driver's license.


Once you have passed the tests, a remark of code 95 will be added on your driving license. This code is valid for five years. If you don't renew your code 95 notice before the expiration date and you are not able to be a truck driver.

The program for code 95 consists of theoretical and practical training. The theory-based training consists of classroom instruction and online learning. Online learning is carried out via a dedicated website. You can attend classes from any place and at any time. The theoretical portion comprises 35 academic lessons. You will also be able take online tests as well as check the completed tasks.

If you want to transport hazardous goods, you will have to enroll in an ADR basic training course (18 hours). This will give you the five-year ADR driver's training certificate. This is required for all professional drivers of vehicles that transport dangerous items.

The new licence style for buses and trucks was introduced in 2011. This is a laminated card similar to the European driving licence card, with the bearer's photo and name (in Latin and Cyrillic scripts), place/date of issue, allowed categories, and signature. The earlier booklet-style and credit card-style licences have been discontinued.
